Special touches
Having a unique, fun and special wedding is how many of my brides describe their
weddings. Whether you want a simple, yet elegant event or an upscale, polished
affair adding special touches really can make the difference. It may not be in everyone's
budget, but here are a few great vendors I have added at receptions that really made
a difference to the feel of the event and the guests enjoyment.
www.thechocolatecup.com They provide coffee bars, chocolate fountains, gelato,
specialty chocolates and wedding cakes.
www.saycheese.com You guessed it, they do wonderful photo booths.
www.threeringservice.com They have provided me with everything from magicians
and fortune tellers during the cocktail hour to caricature artists for one of a kind
portraits of your guests.
www.getthepictureinc.com This is one of my favorite add ons because the guests
really get into it and start pulling groups into the photo session. It is a fantastic
guest book idea and will leave you with an album you will look through over and
over again. Of course, the photos grow more interesting as the night goes on.
I have also hired artists to sketch the entire wedding and reception as a keepsake
for the couple as a keepsake. If your budget allows you can splurge and hire an
amazing artist to do a watercolor of several different scenes of the evening.
Candy Bars: These can be done professionally or as a Do It Yourself item. It is a
great way to add color, enjoy childhood favorite candies and regardless of their ages,
your guests young and old will love it.
Ice Cream Bars: Whether it is Amy's Ice Cream or an add on item from your caterer
this has always been a huge hit at receptions. Make your own sundae with plenty
of toppings.
I have couples that just don't like wedding cake, guess what you can have whatever
dessert you want at your wedding. We have had a hostess (Twinkies, Ding Dongs)
items, pies of all types, peanut butter bread pudding, petit fours, cupcakes, etc. Your
wedding, your choice.
If you want your guests to remember the subtle touches of the evening try adding
Kahlua, Bailey's or Frangelica to your coffee bar along with whip cream or chocolate
shavings during the cake cutting time. It is a wonderful touch.
Not all brides give guest favors, but if it is something you are planning on doing make
it an item they can eat, truly use or enjoy. Whether it is warm Krispy Kreme donuts,
melt in your mouth truffles, mini cakes to go, oreos and milk, etc. your guests will
love the extra thought. Can you tell I am a foodie?
There are hundreds of additional ideas to make your event memorable, this is just
a chance to get the ideas flowing and find a fun vendor to add to the reception.
Happy Planning,
Barbara
